About the Training:
This suicide intervention training helps participants recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connects them with resources to help them choose to live. Participants don’t need any formal preparation to attend the training—anyone who wants to make a difference can learn the Safe TALK steps. There will be scheduled breaks and opportunities to practice the skills built in the workshop, including practice on how to talk about this subject with others.
This peer-to-peer training will increase your confidence in having a conversation with someone about suicide, helping to direct them toward lifesaving resources. The training will be facilitated by Joe Stevens, a certified Living Works Suicide Prevention Workshop facilitator. Certified high school students may assist if available.
This event is held in honor of September being National Suicide Awareness Month.
